Happy 4th of July to all my other Americans on the board! Who's going to see some fireworks? We're having a heat wave right now (it's 102*F) today for a high so I'm not sure I want to go sit and sweat to go see any.

I'm jealous! It's been a week of 90's to 100's and it will stay that way until the weekend (but it's only down to the upper 80's). It's amazing that we go from -10*F in the winter up to 103*F in the summer.

Happy Fourth! Its going to be near the low 70's for me and windy but the wind is nothing new to us haha Some days it can get to 60 mph and slams doors shut in my house

My family is going up to a lake with my dad's friend's family and we are setting off fireworks over the lake!

Hope everyone had a safe 4th and that no fingers were blown off setting off firecrackers.

I spent the 4th at Ashville, NC touring the Biltmore Estate. It was a lovely home with a bunch of rooms (over 40 I think) and they are all lavishly decorated. There is even an swimming pool and a bowling alley in there! Coincidentally, the bowling alley was next to the head chef's room, so the longer that the owners spent bowling at night, the worse their breakfast was in the morning!

They had heat, air (though not much air was on when I was there) and showers, while at the time most people just bathed in a tub once a week (usually on Saturday night to prepare for going to church on Sunday morning and such).

There was even a farm where they had chickens, belgian draft horses (2000 pound mountains of horses), goats, sheep and ducks. My dad said he used some of the equipment they had on display, or at least his grandpa and dad did (Dad grew up on our own family farm).

I loved going there. I would be happier playing in the barnyard over eating an extremely formal dinner any day.
