I'm not surprised you are frustrated. I still think you should report this whole thing to the local PALS team (Patient Advice and Liaison Service), who can also help you make a formal complaint if you want to go down that route.

Could your psychiatrist prescribe a couple of weeks' supply of medication to tide you over until you can re-register elsewhere? Again, PALS might be able to help with that.

Yes, even antibx, although the difference there isn't huge (athough nationally it does make a massive difference, as such a high number of items are prescribed). Here's how the list price of Amoxycillin, a commonly used antibiotic compares in different forms:

Amoxicillin (Non-proprietary)
Capsules, amoxicillin (as trihydrate) 250*mg, net price 21 = 95p; 500*mg, 21 = £1.20. Label: 9
Brands include Amix®, Amoram®, Amoxident®, Galenamox®, Rimoxallin®
Dental prescribing on NHS* Amoxicillin Capsules may be prescribed
Oral suspension, amoxicillin (as trihydrate) for reconstitution with water, 125*mg/5*mL, net price 100*mL = £1.15; 250*mg/5*mL, 100*mL = £1.30. Label: 9
Note* Sugar-free versions are available and can be ordered by specifying ‘sugar-free’ on the prescription
Brands include Amoram®, Galenamox®, Rimoxallin®
Dental prescribing on NHS* Amoxicillin Oral Suspension may be prescribed
Sachets, sugar-free, amoxicillin (as trihydrate) 3*g/sachet, net price 2-sachet pack = £9.18, 14-sachet pack = £31.94. Label: 9, 13
Dental prescribing on NHS*Amoxicillin Sachets may be prescribed as Amoxicillin Oral Powder
Injection, powder for reconstitution, amoxicillin (as sodium salt), net price 250-mg vial = 32p; 500-mg vial = 66p; 1-g vial = £1.16

By the way, anyone can register with the British National Formulary (at bnf.org) and access this info for any drug available in the UK, if they are interested!

Why cant the new doctors surgery see your medical notes online and treat you rather than have to wait for records?

Because in most areas the summary care record is still not fully implemented, unfortunately.

Yes, sorry! The summary care record is the national project to get everyone's basic medical records online.
