Re: Squirrel!
THey're adorable, I love Squirrels. Those are 100% grey Squirrels for sure ( some do have some more brownish-red patches especially in the summer months), but Red ones have tufts on their ears and are much smaller, and very reddish. You can't get crosses or hybrids, as reds and greys cannot co-exist in the same place.
This is a red squirrel:

Re: Squirrel!
I'd say they were reddish grey squirrels rather than red squirrels. I'm pretty sure the two can't breed either, as they're different species and aren't similar enough to even produce infertile offspring like Campbell's and WWs (or horses and donkeys) do. The grey is from the US originally, so the two species must've diverted a good number of years ago, while the Campbell's and WWs' natural habitats are a lot closer together and they must've diverged more recently than the squirrels.
ETA: They are adorable, though

Re: Squirrel!
Ah squirrels. We have several well fed ones who regularly visit the bird feeders. They are getting quite fat now, starting to slow down too. One of the dogs almost got one of them recently. Poor thing.

Re: Squirrel!
I often say it "squiggle" in my head (I am a small child, apparently ), so I keep having to remind myself to spell it right when I'm writing it

Re: Squirrel!
Those are def grey squirrels, red squirrels are dark red with no grey or brown bits, and and they have little tufts of hair on top of their ears. They are also smaller than grey squirrels.
Anyways they are still adorable, I love squirrels of all kinds.
