Re: -Work Experience starting Monday.. Weeheee!
Good luck! Bet you're going to love it
I didn't do a full two week work experience. Instead I spent a day with the Met police - went to Belmarsh Crown Court (never seen so many guns in one place!) then spent a shift with a 999 rapid response team. Was fantastic, if a little scary.

Re: -Work Experience starting Monday.. Weeheee!
Just finished my first day just under an hour ago. I am absolutely shattered.
It was great though, I've already learned a lot!
There was a toy poodle at first who had a lump removed.. followed by almost its entire set of teeth! They were rotting, so she's only left with about.. 5 teeth now. God knows how the owner didn't notice her teeth got that bad. She's now got 0 on one side, 5 on the other, the poor girl
Then a lab who had some sort of growth on her foot removed, and then i had to help bath a westie In the afternoon, it was helping to look after a dog and a cat that are off to the RSPCA within the next week.
Looking forwards to going again tomorrow!

Re: -Work Experience starting Monday.. Weeheee!
Time's going so quickly done over half time at the vets!
There's this gorgeous staffie called Socks who's just been dumped on them, and if nobody takes her (90% certain on that..) she'll be off to the RSPCA. Where they're already overloaded with staffies. I can't face her having to be put down, she gets on so well with everyone. She'd be home with us now if she didn't end up at the vets due to being in a 20 minute dog fight, nearly dead. Socks has been in since Monday, not too sure when she'll be taken away. Everyone working at the vets has bonded so well with her though, she's like the centre of attention.
Just makes me angry, why breed a staffie? Of all dogs! Absolutely mad

Re: -Work Experience starting Monday.. Weeheee!
wow! sounds you're having a lot of fun. I would love to work at a vet's office, but I'm a tiny person so I don't think it would be the best fit for me. I was a dog bather at one point in time. I worked hard, which everyone appreciated but I just couldn't handle the large dogs.
Socks sound such a sweetie, I hope she doesn't get put down, that just breaks my heart. Crossing my fingers for her!
Is work experience like an internship here in the U.S.? From that I gathered it sounds like it. Internships here are either paid or unpaid. And usually they last quite a while, for a couple of months. They provide experience for college students in their chosen career field.
I chose criminal justice, and I helped arrest and interview a pedofile about two weeks ago.

I guess WE is pretty similar to an internship, except I'm 15 so younger, and this is only for 2 weeks compared to a few months. Also you dont get paid to do work experience.

neat! How long do you get to do it for total? That would be pretty cool, if they offered us something like that in high schools. We could volunteer I suppose but it doesnt really count as 'work experience' I did that at our local zoo and fed some of the reptiles. It was quite fun.

Re: -Work Experience starting Monday.. Weeheee!
How long? 2 weeks, 8 hour shift.
Apparently lots of schools have stopped doing work experience although i'm not too sure, most people i know have done it. It's great though, as at first i didn't like the idea of actually becoming a vet but now i know i'm okay with all the ops, i might look further into becoming one. Nurse or surgeon, i dont know, but still!
