Re: Transit of Venus
I love Jupiter and Saturn as they are the easiest of the planets for me to see. I have never seen much detail though as my telescope is quite small. I have observed Venus and Mars but there isn't really that much to see to be honest (well for me anyway). When I first started, I loved looking at the moons craters as it helped me get used to my telescope.I would love to get something bigger. I hope one day I will be able to! I'm no expert either so I try to gain as much knowledge as possible.
I love just sitting in the garden getting used to the constellations. Orion is my favourite by far. It is so obvious on clear night. I bore my Mum and Dad to death telling them what planets are in the night sky and what constelltaion is what

Re: Transit of Venus
This is my scope. It's 5.1 inch Newtonian.
I made do with a basic Tasco Refractor for years. I only got it Christmas 2010. They've come down a lot in price now. My dream scope is way out of my reach though. I would love a Schmidt Cassegrain but they cost 1000's.

Re: Transit of Venus
Did you buy this one online? Or from a specialist astronomy/telescope shop?

Re: Transit of Venus
I'm still trying to get used to it. It has been much more complicated than my Tasco.

Re: Transit of Venus
Bought it online Charley but it was still from a website that specialized in them. Saw it in a photography shop in town but it was much more expensive.
