What a nice surprise. How could you stay grumpy after seeing some gorgeous horses?

Re: went looking for ducks and found horses!
What a great discovery. They sound very friendly too.
Wish I lived near horses. I live in London so not much chance of seeing any. xxx

I know, but it looks rusty in places. I wasn't actually worried about the horses, but for anyone trying to pet them through the wire

You're not supposed to use barbed wire around horses- they can get tangled in it and really injure themselves!

Re: went looking for ducks and found horses!
I know they aren't your horses, but I just had to help explain why barbed wire is a bad choice to use as fencing for horse pastures.
Horses can't see like we can. As prey animals, they have eyes on the sides of their heads and while they can see some depth directly in front of them, they usually have a hard time determining depth most of the time. Because of this, and the fact that they can't see in color, barbed wire is not recommended. They can't tell exactly where it is until its far too late and end up entangled in it and with rather nasty gashes and scrapes that easily get infected from the rust and bacteria on the wire.

Re: went looking for ducks and found horses!
Aww what lovely horses I love finding horses along walks - I spend ages with them
One thing though I wouldn't advise taking oats to feed them - or anything. Owners usually try to discourage people feeding their horses over the fence as it can make them bitey. Also oats are a very warming food that give energy so if given to a lively horse will give them even more energy. Not having a go, just advising that while it appears to be a nice thing to feed them it could cause problems for the owners
Your boy looks very comfortable with them btw
