I often like to putz around in my backyard, looking for whatever critters I can find and then try to identify them. Today I found what I think is an absolutely adorable little Eastern Worm Snake. Like the name implies, it eats earthworms. Here are a couple of pictures of the little guy or gal I dubbed "Slinky". I am guessing by its enlarged gut that its either a gravid female, or one who had gorged itself on earthworms ( I am leaning toward the latter as its tail, the area after it's anal vent, looks longer like a male's rather than shorter like a female's ).
Have no fear about its well being, because I decided it would be for the best, and probably ecologically friendlier, to return it under the rock from whence it came. The fact that its notoriously hard to get to eat in captivity was the clincher.
