Default I need some hair help please?

So I went to get my roots done last Friday and decided I wanted to go golden blonde instead of the 'sunshine blonde' I had. The color didn't take properly due to bleaching it in the past so they told me to come back in today and she'd re-do it. I specifically said I still wanted it blonde and asked if it would go un-blonde and she said no. Well now I'm home, I dont like it l, I think it's darker than what I wanted, nowhere near the golden I thought it would be, and worst of all doesn't really look very blonde I am not happy with it, but not only do I not want to go back and tell them I don't like it ( as I've already been back once, and they did it for free), I told her in the shop I liked it, cos she was so pleased with how it had turned out I didn't like to say anything, and it didnt look bad under their lights. Now I'm home though under my own lights and I seriously don't like it. It'll be another 2-3 months before the roots need re-doing and I can ask for it blonder again and I don't know if I can stand it like it is for that long. Ive thought of buying a blonde packet dye and putting it over it but im afraid of ig messing up completetly.Anyone know of anything I could do? Or anything I could use to make it lighten up quick?

What is your natural color?

I would go to the hairdressers and say you're not happy. I wouldn't pay for something that I wasn't happy with and especially if it cost a lot! 3 months is a long time to have to put up with hair you don't like.

My natural color is dark brown, but I had managed to get it to a lovely sunny blonde. It is not blonde now, it looks a horrible share of mousy brown-ish. My Dad just walked in and said it looks awful, it looked better as it was. I want it back that color - I hate it will I ruin it if I put a 2.99 pack dye on it? I had it done last Friday as a birthday present , it cost £63, I can afford to have it redone. It is nowhere near golden blonde though, but I just want it back as it was.

Wow, £63 is a lot of money for something you hate! You could always ring or go down and explain your situation and she if they can help. I don't think you should have to pay any more money though. I have never dyed my hair so I'm not too sure about the off the shelf dyes...

I have a hairdresser who comes to my house and only chargers £10 for a cut. She is great and gets us to check if we like it and cuts a bit more off if we ask her to.

I`m sorry to hear you have had this experience CW and it`s not funny looking in a mirror at hair you don`t like having paid a small fortune to have it done. I wouldn`t call the salon, I would go back and ask to speak to the girl who dyed your hair and explain to her (or better still, the boss) that when you got home and out into natural light, it wasn`t what you expected and you feel horrid about it. It`s their duty to make customers feel good and they should honour that by cooling the colour down a little. I`m not too sure how they would do that with hair colour, but maybe they could add some highlights to change the shade, rather than an overall change?

Buying an off-the-shelf hair dye might work, but your hair could react badly and end up worse, so unless you can get some advice on that, I`m not sure I would risk it. The salon messed up, so they should honour their mistake. Don`t be afraid to go back in and address your problem with them. I`m sure they will assist if they see you are unhappy. No salon should have unhappy customers.

I used to dye my hair blonde years ago just using shop bought dyes but now that I`m older, I like my natural mousey-brown with grey highlights! I feel dying my hair now would be trying to be something I`m not!

Good luck hun and get back in there.

I wouldn't buy anything off the shelf. Store hairdyes usually have ingredients that are bad for your hair. Any lightening colors strip the color from your hair, while darkening colors add color to your hair, so I always stay REALLY safe with any lightening colors.

I would ask your stylist to re-do it and not try to do it on your own Just ask for "as blonde as possible" or bring a picture. If you have really dark hair and are lightening it, the brightness of blonde tends to fade. I have dark hair but dye it blonde with lots of highlights, and I always get lighter than I like, so when it fades, it still looks good

Well I went back to the salon as I really don't like the color and can't face waiting another 2 or 3 months for it to be redone. I spoke to the girl who colored it and explained to her that when I got outside and home it looked darker than I thought it was then asked for another appointment to change it back. She can't do anything until 3 next Thursday afternoon but I'll have to shell out another £63 as its me that doesn't like it (even though it's not the color I asked for). She also told me not to put anything packaged on it at all so good job I asked first!!

I would look for a different hair salon / hairdresser. Hair coloring is definitely subjective, but something like a shade being darker or lighter is not so much. Who's to say that she won't do something off again and make you pay yet more money. It just sounds like she doesn't care about the results of her work being accurate and satisfactory to her customers, so I would go elsewhere.

You should give your hair a bit of a break before dying it again, or you could really "fry" it! Some nice deep conditioning for a few days.

If you don't like it and she is going to make you pay again I'd go elsewhere too.
They may use a different range of colours and you may find you like them better. Before you book ask about their policy if the colour is not what you asked for and definitely try and get a picture or even an old pic of yourself when it was the shade you liked and take that in.
Good luck next time
