Default Driving test tomorrow...

I'm so nervous

I have managed to convince myself I cannot drive.. I suffer with anxiety over meeting new people which is what I'm worried about the most I suppose. I was only told about the show me tell me questions 3 weeks ago.. so panicked about those but I'm okay with them now.

I have rescue remedy and imodium tables (IBS!!) ... I have been learning for nearly a year and can drive so I don't know why I'm thinking like this! I seem to like making up bad scenarios in my head.. I was worried about my theory test like this but I passed with really good marks! ...

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Any tips??

Easier said than done but try to relax, take your time (safely!) and concentrate. There are worse things and better things in the world than passing your driving test first, second thrid time etc so don't put too much pressure on yourself. Good luck

As one that has just passed under two weeks ago...I know how your feeling. What I did and I hope it helps...I decided to pretend it was a lesson and the examiner was a subsitute instructor. Just go and do your very best.xx I have my fingers crossed for you...you'll be just fine.xxx

I don't remember any "show me tell me" questions when I did my test, are those new? I did take it three years ago now, and there was talk of them changing it when I talked to some younger friends about it.

Good luck, though! I'm sure you'll do well

Kissa i did mine 4 years ago, and they were there then - its just like show me where the oil is and stuff like that

Leesha you'll do fine - the morning of my test i just thought - whatever will be will be, the sun was shining, and i listened to cheery music before my instructor picked me up, we went for a drive, and had a chat like it wasn't my test, and by the time i got to the test centre, all i was thinking was how nice it was to drive around in that weather. I was really nervous on my hill start, and was so sure i'd failed though, but i passed with only 4 minors, and the instructor was friendly and chatting to me about work, and stuff on the drive!

Definitely try not to get worked up, if you can drive, you'll be fine - Good luck

Yeah, I have show me, tell me questions too. I have to read a number plate from a certain distance, show where the dip stick was under the bonnet and another thing that I can't remember...

Leesha, good luck tomorrow and try and think positive I'm the same as you really and I worry a lot. I think, for me, the hardest part was trying to get the maneuvers right, so try and go over them in your head. Don't forget that you are allowed a certain amount of minors so don't worry too much if you think you have done something wrong. I ended up with 5 minors in my test best still passed first time

Thanks everyone I keep changing my mind.. Thinking I can do this and then thinking I can't. It's really annoying me lol..

My instructor said it's just a formality they have to do to get you on the road, that I can drive and if I do fail then it will be over something silly.

I keep imagining how it's going to be, like I'll come to a roundabout and forget what to do, or some idiot driver (which there are a lot of in Nuneaton) will cause me to do something dangerous.

My bf said as long as I drive safely and don't cause an obstruction then I'll be fine. I need to drive how I usually drive because it's fine. I don't use the handbrake when stopping at lights because my instructor didn't teach me that and her student pass rate is very high and we all get taught the same.. even though I'm her husbands 2nd cousin lol

I have the ability to see the worst in everything I do and never the good stuff! I'm convinced my parallel park is terrible even though every time I do it it's perfect. Same with the other manoeuvres. I am my own nightmare! haha..

I've got an hour lesson before to go through everything and the test is at half 9 so hopefully no cyclists!!! Maybe I'll get in the driving mood then lol. I love driving but keep thinking to myself that the examiner will think I'm awful! For example, not being able to see me check my mirror (when I am a serial mirror checker lol)

What are they like lol? Hard?

Oooh, those questions I was sitting here thinking that I didn't get asked any questions while I was driving and completely forgot about the bits beforehand

My examiner was ill, he told me, which I'm pretty sure is why my test route was an easy driving estate one He was a nice guy too I was convinced that I had failed, I accidentally tried to pull away in second gear and stalled, the car made the most horrendous bang, but because I didn't cause an obstruction (there was no one behind me ) he put it down as a minor instead of a major and passed me

You might find it interesting to know that my instructor actually thought I'd fail because of how nervous I was before my test. I distinctly remember my nerves causing me to forget to stop indicating inwards when told to pull in on a hill, and then still indicating in as I pulled out. Twice. Only got a few minors though and have no idea what the examiner did about that. Possibly pretended it hadn't happened or put it down as a minor. Am guessing I got credit for it being nerves though since he asked me to do it twice, its just a shame I made the same mistake both times lol

Its just like a lesson, except you're ten times more terrified lol. Good luck with your test!
