Re: Dentist ;o
I had four premolars and 4 wisdom teeth all removed from my mouth, in two separate sittings. The first time, when I had the premolars taken out, they just used some Novocaine on my gums around the teeth and used what looked a lot like a fancy pair of pliers to remove them.
When I had my wisdom teeth extracted, the bottom two were compacted against the backmost molars and as a result couldn't break through the gums, they knocked me out completely and took them out while I was under.
Both times I went home with a very numb mouth and jaw, drooling all over, and slurred speech. I was given some heavy duty pain medication to take the first time, something similar to but not as strong as Oxycontin, but it made me woozy, a tad disconnected with reality and sick to my stomach. I was given enough to last a week but I stopped after the second day. The second time I was just told to take some Tylenol or Ibuprofen to manage the pain.
I don't mind the dentist. The assistants are nice and the dentist is very smart, though he looks like he might have graduated from dental college not too long ago. Not that it makes a difference. Its just something I noticed the first time he came into the room and introduced himself to me.
Anyways, they always say my teeth look wonderful, and I bet they've had their fare share of people with terrible oral hygiene come in. I do live in the southeastern part of the country and let's face it, there are some people with terrible teeth, or lack there of, around here.
