Whoops. I didn't discuss getting Howie last Friday with my other half. lol. But then since I already had a spare cage, wheel, toys etc...there wasn't the big expense. However we have been together 23 years now (that makes me feel ancient) & after putting up with my hundreds of vintage Sindy dolls & Takara Jenny dolls for years the hamsters are a doddle! Incidentally I have slowly sold my doll collection although I still have a few to sell, hamsters are a much better hobby & far more rewarding.
In answer to the original posting some people will never get it. I tell everyone who I can when chatting & they ask if I have pets that I have hamsters as well as the dogs. I do get funny looks about the hamsters of course. I couldn't care or less. Hamsters are wonderful! To be honest if people think I am sad or barmy & far too old to have a "kids pet" they can I'd rather be that than like them.
