Confused...dwarfs or dwarves??

So I know the plural when talking about a dwarf is dwarves (at least that's what I was lead to believe!) but most people seem to talk about them as dwarfs.
Which is correct??

I think both are correct. I spell it dwarfs, but that's largely because most of the people I've seen in the hamster world spell it as such... lol

ETA: I got curious and Googled it. Stumbled upon this on first click; click.

Apparently, dwarves generally refers to fantasy dwarves, whereas dwarfs is the general plural.

Yeah, I've started spelling it that way for that very reason xD But I wanted to be sure which was correct.

Both are correct. Though "dwarves" is often used to denote characters from fantasy books and games.
