Re: 'Hampster'
It's pretty common to hear it pronounced as "hampster" in the states. I'm not sure if it's an accent thing or not. I imagine it is.
I have a lisp, so hamster sometimes because 'hampster' when I say it. I never spell it with a p, though, and it annoys me when I see people spell it as such, too. lol I can understand pronouncing it with a p due to accent/lisp... but to actually think it's spelled that way? lol

Re: 'Hampster'
It's not an accent thing--it's an ignorance thing =/ I even read adoption ads from shelters saying "hampster" sometimes It's really not much different than misspelling other words like "definitely" vs. "definately", "there" vs. "their" vs. "they're" etc.

I know the spelling it wrong isn't an accent thing. I mean that I know people who spell it correctly, but pronounce it with a p regardless.
Myself included due to my lisp. :/
