Question Anyone done an online animal care course?

Hi
Just read through the other animal care thread and this prompted me to ask the above question.
Anyone been on Animal Jobs Direct website? Or done one of their courses?
I am tempted as its the only way for me to carry on working in a miserable job just to pay the bills, yet get some kind of qualification so I can do what I have dreamt about for years. And I am 53 !! So if any of you ''youngsters'' have this dream please do something about it as no doubt people have told you how fast your life will pass you by, believe me its true!
Your age in the animal care/rescue domain, I have been told, is not the barrier it can be in other sectors, as long as you are reasonably fit, but it is going to be a challenge regardless, but if I don't do it now I never will and it will definitley be too late.!!!
Any comments?
Thanks!

ive just looked at the website and the courses they offer look amazing . the price of the courses are not too bad either. i may do some of these courses is the near future when i have a job and can pay for the courses.

if you do choose to do one of the courses good luck to you, and i hope you enjoy it

It is an excellent peice of advice Lindyloo, one I've gave myself, I have worked for Haven for five years and got tired of seasonal work and got inspired to work in support, which I'm currently trying to do and fingers crossed I will be working in that field soon and start making a career for myself. I wish you luck...I'm sure with your determination you wont have any problems.xxxx

My dream has always been to work with animals but like most people who have rent and bills to pay each month I can't afford to give up work to go to college and get a qualification. I keep saying that I'm going to look into night classes, every year I say this is the year I am going to do it but never seem to get round to it - I'm 31, I'm not getting any younger!! I didn't even think of the possibility of doing an online course, I'm really excited now!! Going to look into it now, thanks for sharing

Thanks everyone for your comments, glad I mentioned the site now! Good luck Sakuraheart, I admire your determination. And you LawaRawr - do it if its what you really want and it makes you happy.
And Pinkprincess; I know exactly what you mean, I have never been in a position to go back to college full time, and there isnt any animal courses done as evening classes in my area so I am left with the online option. All my jobs to date have been purely for fianancial reasons, so now I want something that makes me happy instead! I could starve in the process! I have spoken to someone at Animal jobs direct and they told me that they get quite alot of 'mature' students who have an urge to change careers who sign up for all sorts of courses. I hope to be doing the Animal Health & Welfare course (That is £330 now, not £350 like it says on the website - and the modules have changed) As part of the course you get a placement in an animal rescue centre for a donation to the charity which is a great way to see what it is really like.
Its all a bit scarey but also exciting, I can't wait to make it all happen!

I think this is a fantastic option for maybe older people who want a change in career, by older I'm not implying anything, my auntie is currently doing one of these in child care and she's in her later twenties. I'm glad you mentioned it, I'm sure you'll inspire a few people on here to make that leap!
