Re: AS Level Choices
I did english, wasn't keen on the first year but the second year was amazing, looking at lingustics, we got to record peoples convos and everything my coursework was on disney!
What would you do wth RE Alevel though? Unless you were fancying theology or something if you decided to go to uni i don't think its taken that seriously by employers.
what you hoping to do after? x

Re: AS Level Choices
Those are going to change so much before college, mine changed like 7 times.
I didn't do any of those subjects though, bet your college says they don't 'link' they got me to take choices I didn't want to do by saying that

Re: AS Level Choices
I did biology, it was really REALLY hard, but an awesome challenge. I changed my mind loads, and in the end I've done something at uni that doesn't even relate to my A levels lol

Re: AS Level Choices
It is a good idea to try and think what you might want to do at Uni or college before you choose because many courses have specific entrance requirements. For example should you want to do Physics you also need to do Maths.
Although they say all A levels are equally valued I don't think this is the case and universities tend to rank A levels and attach more value to certain ones which are usually the core subjects like English, Maths, Sciences, languages etc.
Pophammy is doing Biology at A2 now and she certainly enjoys it. She must do because she has applied to do it at Uni!
I'm sure after your GCSEs you will have a better idea of what you really do enjoy but there is not harm in looking at University or college courses now and seeing which admission requirements they have. It's an exciting time

Re: AS Level Choices
Gosh, I didn't have any idea what AS levels I wanted to do...until I was writing my entry form for sixth form
Year 11 can influence a lot, as your able to learn what subjects you can do best at a high level. (or what subjects you can't bare to do a minute longer )
Next year I'm hoping to go on to do: Biology, ICT, History and business studies.
Reconsidering about whether to do english language instead of business, but we'll see

Re: AS Level Choices
I've applied for a few colleges.
One I applied to do: Law, Chemistry, Biology and Accounts (a wide range) all at A level.
Another: Animal Science
And then the one I really want to go to: Level 3 Diploma in Vet Nursing.
I have my interview for the Vet Nursing one on Wednesday, very scared!

Re: AS Level Choices
I agree with Souffle, choice subjects that you might find helpful for future choices. Failing that I always advise that you should chose subjects which you enjoy. These will be the the subjects you generally do well in and therefore will gain the best final grades.
Your school/college should hold and open day/evening event, these are great for finding our about the courses in more detail and you will gain an idea of the teachers responsible for each subject (if you want to avoid any!?) Some schools/colleges will hold taster days/lessons too, usually in yr 11 so you can opt to try a sample of the courses you are interested in.
As for Biology...as suggested above it is a challenging course. Often thought of as an easy option, but it isn't. Its great fun, expescially if you are interested in the inner workings of the human anatomy and its interactions with the world.
If in doubt, go with your heart!
