Hopefully some of you have read my post about being married and OH response to pets and that sort of fun stuff. So I've been thinking a lot about what i might want for valentines day and I'm thinking about asking for another hamster. I have always had on hamster at a time til recently and it was always a syrian until I got my new hamsters. Don't get me wrong i love my hams to pieces but I miss having a syrian or would really like to have a couple of robos as well as i have never had robos before. i've been wanting another ham for months and i don't think he would care either way on it honestly. Also since i already have hams its not that big of a change in expenses since i would just need the cage maybe some toys and the hams themselves. So i was wondering what everyone thinks about it based on the other threads info. and no i won`t be offended if u are like yeah ur stupid. i asked u to tell me... lol.

also it prevents him from getting me something stupid or way overpriced that i don`t want. Not trying to be mean as i am grateful for the gestures but sometimes its nice to get something you want especially when you don`t just go out and buy things for yourself. Even with all the hints and oooing and ahhing over stuff when he is with me he still manages to ignore that and get me bad gifts.... too much like whining so stopping there.

I think if you make a point that its what you really want he cant be to much against it after all there are alot more people who like pets than those who dont, even with cages and toys I am sure a new hamster works out cheaper than a peice of jewelry, I am sure if you just bring it up in conversation about valentines day coming up soon as you casually glance as a calender or something.

he`s not so good with the whole casual hint thing so i was flat out going to ask "can i get a hamster for valentines day from you? it would be so special to me" and see what he says. :S unless someone is like your crazy don`t get more hams or something.

Coming from me, I don't think another ham will be too much trouble
(Its when you get to my stage that you start saying that ) The only thing you have to consider is vets bills, but if you have savings aside its fine.

Even if your OH doesn't love hamsters as much as you, I'm sure he understands that they are very important to you.

I had to get another syrian even though I felt the household was full, they are very different to dwarfs in my opinion. So I understand completely
Its a great valentines present idea too x

Yes, I think a direct approach might be best. You could still word it in a playful nice way!

I've always loved syrians and their personality they are hilarious and spunky (not to say other hams aren't) When i got my first ham after getting married i got a syrian and that was misha and she lived for a long time and i had a great time with her. after she died my husband disapeared one day and came home with another hamster for me and that was cashew (because he was a nut) and getting cashew in that way was so special to me it is one of my favorite memories. i'm not trying to replace the memory just build some more new ones.

There ya go then. If he's already bought you one as a present I'm sure he won't mind buying you one as a valentines gift.

Hopefully not. I'm getting excited by the idea of it so I hope he doesn`t say no.
