I have two females bettas and I had a male that passed away at 4 years. I tried putting two females together but they started fighting and I had to separate them. I have a total of 5 fish tanks. 2 betta tanks, a 2.5 gallon for my black moor goldfish for now until he gets larger, a 30 gallon and a 37 gallon tank. I love fish and hammies.

Thanks for all that info babyboos I just looked up the KG Bettas site, wow there are some pretty fish, especially the crowntail ones. I've been reading/learning a little bit about fish recently just because I was interested.

Would a single Betta behave in a community tank? From what I've read so far it seems they'd be ok as long as there wasn't any other bossy fish around, but that many community fish might nip their fins. Obviously size considerations too in a community tank.

your fish are sure pretty! we once had a Siamese Fighting Fish named "Harry" and we kept 3 Minnows in the tank with him. They all lived very well until one day they all just started dying off....sadly "Harry" died one night and my poor daughter was quite heartbroken.

They really are nice fish

"a 2.5 gallon for my black moor goldfish for now until he gets larger"

I am not 100 % sure, but...i think there is actually a good chance that he wont get larger while he is in that tank, with goldfish they are said to grow to the size of their aquarium, but what really happens (that i have learned from the net, and on fish forums) is that they're bodies some growing, but their organs and such dont. That is why alot of them die young. When given the proper space they can live for something like 20 years, and become about 10 - 15 inches long. But i have heard that they get bigger than that.

I started out with wigglebutt (black moor goldfish) when he was just a itty bitty baby that my other fish beat up on. It was horrible. My clown loaches thought he was a snail I think. Anyways he is getting larger and I have a nice place for him in the 37 gallon when he is large enough. He is about 1.5" now and keeps on growing. I will try to get pictures this weekend. I don't know how to post them here but I put all my pictures in my photobucket account.

Only you need to make your images about 50% of their current size - Photobucket will do this for you automatically.

See you are a good goldfish owner, you have a nice BIG space for him, but so many people think, OH you can keep them in tiny little bowls untill they kill themselves, and only live for 2 years rather than 20 !
