Default Where did your username come from?

Well mine is easy it is the name of my Hamstery and it came from my partner originally, it is what he calls our little un-named babies - no not his pet name for me - he calls me Bunny

I am not going to say anymore...

Erm, mine is my name!!!

Other names I use are funkyvixen (a name I've had online since I was about 16 and now people on some forums know it so can't really change it) and petrina, which I just thought was pretty one day.

I don’t know if anyone caught this... On the Hamster Central site is says that my name is Candace Mason.. But here it’s Candace Bell.

Well the reason for that is because my maiden name was Candace Bell, and at that time about a year or so before marriage I started to sell my artwork and became a freelance fantasy artist. Since I sell most of it on ebay people started to recognize my name and artwork as Candace Bell Art. So when I got marriage I kept that name "Bell" as my artist name so as not to confuse people but took my husbands last name as Mason... So much for not being confusing

Anyway this forum is actually an extension from my fantasy art site which is http://www.candacebell.com. When I upgraded my hosting for that site it allowed me to make a forum, that’s why if you look at the URL now for this forum it doesn’t say hamstercentral.com the url is really candacebell.com/forum

So all I did was pay for the domain name of hamster central and hosting is free, 25 bucks a year.. in a way it works out because I don’t need to ask for donations like some ezboard forums do, which lets people post freely without having the guilt trip donation box shoved in their face..

Anyway that’s my long winded explanation for my user name.

Default simple is good

I like that because now I can call you by your first name and not by your username which sometimes I fell is a little impersonal unless the other person does not mind - me call me anything you want

A username I use elsewhere a lot is "funkyvixen" which I came up with about 7 years ago or something.......it seemed cool at the time ok ..... now I've just got used to it. Some people who I've got to know in real life after first meeting me online call me F.V. more often than they call me Emma - I've a few friends whose online names are pretty much interchangeable with their real names, in certain circles. The other day a friend called me on my new phone, I hadn't programmed his number in yet so it came up as unrecognised, he said "Hello it's (real name)". And I was thinking....who? Then realised it was a guy I know more usually by his online pseudonym, his real name just didn't click in my head!

Using real names online first seems a much more sensible idea, then you don't end up in situations like that!
