Wakamé, my first ever hamster passed away.

She was kind, curious and very active. Enjoyed emptying her food bowl and hidding the food all over the cage. Her best friend was a cat, they enjoyed rubbing their noses through the cage holes.

Found her liveless inside her hut. Her body seems fine, nothing looked abnormal. My only concern was that she was picky with her food and only ate some things. It was "Mini Mix Hamster Nature Versele Laga".

She was with me since March last year. She had short but a good life.

Pictures attached .

I am so sorry to hear your sad news. It sounds as though the cat will miss her as well. It's a lovely idea to remember her with your tree. Play well at the bridge, Wakamé.

I am so sorry Artur. So she must have been about 18 months old which is fairly average for a dwarf hamster. She had a lovely cage set up. I saw your video with the cat and while normally people would say it is stressful for a hamster to have contact with a cat or even smell them (as prey animals) she doesn’t seem to want to run and hide in her cage! I have to say though your cat would almost certainly have seen her as prey if she could have got at her! The law of nature.

But she has now passed peacefully in her home and while a shock that is not a bad way to go. Being buried with a tree planted is lovely. X

When the cat approached the cage she would come out and try to get as close as possible to it. Since she never seemed stressed I let them be.

Thanks for all the messages. I'm not sad because I know she lived well. I cleaned her cage, washed her bowls etc, and got another dwarf, a white one.

He doesnt bite, but is still scared of humans, I will let him alone for a few weeks until he gets used to the new environment.

Thanks guys

Rest in peace Wakamè.

You lived in a wonderful hamster world that looked like The Shire and now you've gone to your eternal sleep under a tree.
Can't ask for better than that.
