Hydrogen's Curtain Call
It's been a difficult couple of weeks. Its seems like barely yesterday that I lost Cadmium but a couple of days ago I found Hydrogen in his nest. He looked like he went to sleep and just didn't wake up - so I'm hoping hoping it was peaceful. Perhaps he wasn't even aware of it happening.
I'm not sure what the cause was, but given that he was a rescue there's could be a lot I don't know.
He came to me as a young, inquisitive but incredibly nervous boy, who needed a lot of patience but gradually did become more trusting. I'm going to miss the way he liked to sit in the corner of the cage next to me while was working, the conversations and the curiosity.

Re: Hydrogen's Curtain Call
So sorry to hear of Hydrogen's sudden departure. It sounds like he died in his sleep which is the best way to go but it doesn't make it any easier, the void will always be there.

Re: Hydrogen's Curtain Call
I'm so sorry Kyrkogrimr, losing one ham is hard, losing another so soon after really is quite evastating.
It does sound as though Hydrogen went to the bridge peacefully, I hope that is some comfort to you.
Run free & play well at the bridge Hydrogen.

Re: Hydrogen's Curtain Call
Ahh I'm really sorry to hear this. As the others have said, passing away in his sleep is probably the best way to go, at least he didn't suffer a long illness or slow decline.
It sounds like Hydrogen had a lovely and caring home with you and that is the best thing anybody can give to their hamster.
Rest In Peace Hydrogen.

Re: Hydrogen's Curtain Call
I know it was the best way for him to go that I could hope for, I just keep reminding myself that even if it was short, he had a good life with me.
