Default Goodbye Butterscotch

I found my beautiful boy Butterscotch dead in his cage last night. I am totally shocked because he had seemed fine even yesterday morning when we last saw him alive. He hadn't lost weight, his eyes were bright and his ears were pointy, he wasn't dehydrated, he had water on each level of his cage, and food. I just don't know what happened!

He doesn't even look dead, he is kind of lying on his side, half curled up, I really hope he didn't suffer. I have covered him with a tissue, now I have to find some kind of little box to bury him in, it's the least I can do.

I feel like a terrible owner right now, I wish I could have done more for him.

He was pale beige with a white band, but became completely white as he got older. He was around 18 months old. He wasn't the most social hamster but he seemed to enjoy it when I put him on a soft blanket and stroked him.

I am sorry to hear this, I am also sorry to hear you feel like a terrible owner. I am sure this is not true at all, sadly, these things just happen with our little ones. Hugs to you at this time.

I'm sorry for your loss. Often we never know why they leave us but it sounds like he flew free very quickly and painlessly.
Run free at the bridge Butterscotch x

So sorry to hear about your hamster's unexpected passing but don't blame yourself in any way. It's not your fault.

I am sorry to hear about butterscotch. Please don’t think you were a bad ham owner. They are always taken from us too soon. Each ham is different and it is lovely that he enjoyed stokes on his soft blanket. It sounds like it was a peaceful passing which is all we can ask for. Play well at the bridge butterscotch x

Sorry to read about little Butterscotch. Also, sorry to read that you feel like a terrible owner. Sometimes they die without any warning, despite the best of care, so try not to be hard on yourself. May your memories of Butterscotch bring you comfort.
