Goodbye Mary
I adopted Mary when she was already 6 months old so I knew we wouldn't have as much time together as I wanted. Right after adopting her I realized she was sick (sneezing, sleeping a lot). I took her straight to the vet where she was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection.
She was so good when I had to give her nose drops and syringe feed her medication, even though she didn't know me all that well yet. She never bit me and she would always fall asleep on my lap after I gave her the medication.
Mary kept getting sick again after finishing her doses, and the vet said that she essentially had an awful/nonexistent immune system. But after four vet visits and different medications, she seemed to be doing a lot better.
She really came out of her shell after I had had her for a few months, and she was the silliest, most playful yet cuddly hamster. She would be scampering about one moment, digging tunnels and sprinting on her wheel, then the next she'd be sleeping in my arms. She was truly an incredible hamster, pet, and companion. She wasn't quite 18 months old when she died, so it was too soon and so sudden. She was doing so much better.
I should have expected it given her health history but I really thought she had pulled through. The occasional sneeze wasn't uncommon for her but she never got as bad as she used to be.
She was so full of life and love and I know that none of us ever have enough time with our hammies but Mary's time was cut short and I miss her so much. I hope she is finally free of her illnesses wherever she is, with plenty of Lovelies treats and apple slices. I love you Mary

Re: Goodbye Mary
Hi Juneandmary
I am sooooo sorry for your lost.....
I lost my precious WW...Violet in March this year and I never remembered crying so hard in a long time. She was 2.2 years old when she passed on to the rainbow bridge and I still miss her so much.
Mary sounded to be the bravest and sweetest hammie and I'm sure she is sickness free now at the rainbow bridge, running and playing with all her friends there.
Please feel better soon....
Cheers!
