Goodnight Stephano
My oldest Russian Dwarf Stephano passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 18th at 2 years and 4 months old. He was a sweet hammie and I’ll miss him a lot but I am grateful he lived a long life and had a peaceful death.
I remember when I first bought him and his brother, all their littermates had been sold already and they were running around their pet store tank carrying woodshavings in their mouths to build their nests. After they finished, Stephano tested out their new nest by sleeping and Francisco came up to the glass to say hello. I fell in love with them immediately and reserved them to pick up after Uni.
I learnt a lot about hamster care from Stephy and Franny, I also made a lot of mistakes (the Mini Duna with only 1 inch of substrate) and I am very grateful for everything that Stephano and his brother Francisco had to teach me.
I’m sorry if I sound kind of numb throughout this post, I don’t think I’ve fully processed his death to be honest. I had him for so long it felt like he’d be around forever . I’ll try to update later with some more memories and photos of my tiny Stephy angel.

Re: Goodnight Stephano
You don't sound numb and you don't need to say any more than you feel ready to. Losing someone is always hard and people process things in different ways. I'm sure he knew he meant a lot to you and that's the main thing. I hope you are OK. Sending hugs your way! So sorry for your loss! X

Oh alpacassei! I’m so sorry for your loss of little Stephano. He was such a sweet ham and I know you loved him so very very much. It’s so hard to loss a ham that was so loved. I understand his passing hasn’t hit you yet and you don’t sound numb at all. Sending huge huge hugs to you and kisses from Libby. xxx
Goodnight Stephano. Xox

Sorry to hear for your loss, he sounds like such an amazing ham. He will be playing forever in the bride looking down on you. Try not to let yourself get down about it, our pets cannot live forever even though we would like them to. R.I.P Stephano x

I'm so sorry for your loss, he sounded like such a sweet little boy. He certainly did live to a good age and had a wonderful home with you. It's always hard to process when they pass on, but I'm sure you have lots of lovely memories of him to help. Sleep tight Stephano.
