Default Why did my hamster die?

Friday, I came home from school and looked in my cage to found my little boo dead. He was stiff and felt very hard as a piece of wood. I was devastated to say the least. I loved him so much. He was just fine the night before I was even playing with him and he was energetic as always. Today's Monday and I'm burying him today. Can anyone tell me why he died? Thank you in advanced.

Sometimes we just can never know sadly. It was his time and a blessing he passed quickly with no suffering. Hamsters just like any animal can be born with some weakness which suddenly gives out. Heart defects are not uncommon in hamsters and a also the can have weak blood vessels in the brain which suddenly rupture.
I am sorry for your loss but focus on the good times and remember those. It was nothing you did and he likely could not have been saved.
Run free at the bridge Boo.

I'm so sorry you lost your little ham ham. Pet deaths are always difficult, and especially when they're unexpected we want to know why they happened.

I don't think it was your fault in any way. If you were taking proper care of him and you didn't notice him showing any signs of illness, than it's most likely not your fault.

Sometimes, hamsters just pass away unexpectedly/at a young age due to natural causes or genetic defects. Pet store hamsters are most usually bred with poor genetics, which often results in offspring who die young or suffer from genetic issues. As Soufflé mentioned, a heart defect wouldn't be unlikely.

Just cherish the moments you did get with him, rather than dwelling on his death. And maybe if it feels right, one day in the future you may adopt another fur baby whom you can love on

Have fun at the bridge little Boo xx

So sorry for your loss, this must have been such a shock for you & it is hard not knowing, as the others have said there are some reasons hams die unexpectedly that are impossible to see or predict.
Try not to question yourself or anything you may have done, sadly this is just something that happens sometimes, I'm sure Boos time with you was happy & full of love, try to focus on that now & cherish the memories.

Run free & play well at the bridge little Boo.

I am so very sorry for your loss of little Boo. As others had said, sometimes we can never know what caused the passing our loved ones; sometimes it was just there time to go. Luckily, it appeared not a drawn out, painful death. Although you are grieving the loss of one so dear to your heart, try to focus on all the wonderful times you shared and know that you gave your little Boo the greatest life possible filled with so much love and care. Hugs to you. Run free and happy at the Rainbow Bridge, little Boo.

So sorry to hear about little Boo - such a shock for you. At least his passing was quick and free from suffering - sometimes when they are very old and everything is failing it is so hard. The decision to pts was the hardest thing I've ever done. But he was your lovely ham and you will miss him. He is playing free over the rainbow bridge now, and free from pain. They leave a hamster shaped hole in our hearts for some time, but it gets easier and you remember the good bits. Also when you feel ready a new baby hamster can be a joy and a different personality altogether.
