Goodnight Georgia
I know I haven't been really active here a lot, but yesterday Georgia was put to sleep.
For the past month, she had been going down hill and it all started with a pea size sore with swelling underneath it on the left side of her belly. Took her to the vet and was put on antibiotics, thinking its a drained skin abscess. A week later, it didn't improve and got twice the size.
Took her back to the vet(this time saw the specialist), and she said its a tumor, most likely cancer in hamsters. Opted to put her on anti-inflammatory meds and play it by ear.
Soon I found more sores/swellings on her body and it seems like there's a new one every day. She kept on getting worse and started hobbling on her back left foot along with hearing strange stomach like growling noises from her body. The noises stopped after I began feeding her hamster safe baby food.
On Thursday, with my mom's help we made a appointment with the vet for a exam with possible euthanasia. I cried that night when I was bed, realizing it could be the last time I could say goodnight to her.
At the vets, she agreed it was time after looking Georgia over.
I love you to bits Georgia, thank you for being my first hamster buddy. So goodnight and have fun being pain free sweetie.

Re: Goodnight Georgia
Zazwaki, so sorry for your loss, you gave Georgia a loving home which is to be proud of, she clearly loved you back, things are awful when you have to have a loved pet pts, but sometimes it is for the best.
You have done the right thing and don't beat yourself up about it. Georgia is now pain free and probably having Hamster havoc where ever she is now...
RIP little Georgia

Re: Goodnight Georgia
I'm so sorry Zazwaki, it's such a hard decision to have to make for your ham but you did the best for Georgia, she had a life full of love & you did the kindest thing for her in the end, I'm sure you will miss her very much but she will always live on in your heart.
Run free & play well at the bridge Georgia.

Re: Goodnight Georgia
I'm so very sorry to hear about your loss of Georgia. It is always heartbreaking to have to make such a difficult decision, but you did what was best for her so she can now be without pain and find peace at the Rainbow Bridge. You gave her a wonderful life filled with so much love and you did absolutely everything you could to help her recover. I'm sure Georgia knew that you helped her on her final journey because you loved her so very much. She was a very gorgeous ham who I know will be very missed. She will be with you forever in your heart. Hugs to you, Zazwaki! Rest in peace, little Georgia; please send an extra rainbow to let Zazwaki know that you are alright and having adventures with the other hams who have passed.
