RIP my Fluffmonster
Today I had to make the hardest decision any pet owner could make but one our pets trust us to make especially when they become terminally ill.
I took Peanut to the vets today after I checked on her and saw that she was in a much worse state than she was a few days before. She hadn't been eating or drinking and she was extremely wobbly when she moved, basically sliding and falling everywhere. But today she had completely closed eyes and pus was coming from them and I noticed she had extremely overgtown teeth so I made an emergency appointment with the vet.
The vet checked her over and told me that Peanut had severe neurological problems, small tumours in her brain and behind her eyes and she also had a urinary infection. She told me that we could give her pain meds and antibiotics but she would still be suffering from her neurological issues and the cancer so I made the decision to euthanize her as it would be more humane as she had been suffering the past few days without my knowledge.
The woman was really lovely and let me take my time with having my last few moments with Peanut, obviously tears were shed even my dad cried as he said goodbye to her. But now I know she's no longer in pain and that she's playing with all her hammy friends at the rainbow bridge.
Play well my little fluff monster.

I am so deeply sorry to hear that Peanut is no longer with us - I had tears in my eyes when I saw this thread. That is such a difficult decision to make which is made out of pure love, so my condolences go out to you during this really difficult time. You gave the gorgeous Peanut a wonderful loving home with endless amounts of love.
Play well at bridge the Peanut!

Thank you so much SKB, she started having neurological issues a couple of months ago she started becoming wobbly and not being able to balance and I just thought she was starting to get old, I never knew it would turn into something so severe like this.
I'm glad she's no longer in pain though, but it's really sad that she died so young.

Hi Abi,
So very sorry to hear about Peanut, but you have done the kindest thing possible to relieve him of his pain and suffering.
I know it is awful and the emotional pain we Hoomans have to cope with at the loss of a much loved little fluffball slowly diminishes .
I hope where ever he is now he is bringing his own form of Hamster chaos with all the other Hammies that have past..

Re: RIP my Fluffmonster
So sorry for your loss, it is a very hard decision to have to make for them but you did the kindest thing & gave Peanut the final gift helping her to the bridge.
She had a great life full of love & will always live on in your heart.
Run free & play well at the bridge Peanut.

Dear Abi , little Peanut was probably in a lot of pain, it's good that you saved a long drawn out suffering. You will miss her a lot I'm sure, but I hope you find another furry friend as your a good pet lover.

Re: RIP my Fluffmonster
Thank you everyone for all the kind messages, it's managed to put a smile on my face although I woke up this morning looking at her empty cage and started to feel those tears well up again.
So I decided to share some sweet photos of her before her health issues started and when she was a happier and healthier ham.

I'm so very sorry to hear of Peanut's passing; I had tears in my eyes as I saw this thread. I know that it was extremely hard and painful for you to make that decision, but you made it with love, compassion, and the well-being of Peanut in mind. You gave her a life filled with love, and she was truly lucky to have a home with you. Please find peace in knowing that she is spared all that extra pain and is now finding new adventures over that the Rainbow Bridge. She will live on in your memories and in your heart always. Take care and hugs to you, Abi. Rest in peace, handsome Peanut!

Sorry for your loss. The ultimate gift of love for a pet is to help them go to the rainbow bridge when the time is right.
