thanks, everyone. It's been nice to have a community who understands and that I can "talk" to about my friend.

I'm currently watering the plants around her grave and thanking her. I really loved that little sucker more than I would ever believe possible.

Trying to get around the complexities of my emotions and her quick and unexpected death.

We got a new little buddy and I think it's important for me to recognize what we are doing during her being here that will help me see what I did during Misses Wifflebee's time to reassure that she was living a good life and not just locked into the day when I lost her.

Again, I think I'm a bit crazy to be mourning a hamster! I loved that darn fluffball like mad!!!

Thanks again to all of you!

You aren't crazy at all to mourn the death of your little ham! Don't feel bad about it, I cried whenever my betta fish died even though I am not a young child. Losing any animal that was part of your family can be hard, but I'm glad you're doing better. Rest in peace to your little bugger <3

Absolutely not crazy! It wouldn't be crazy to be torn to bits over the death of a dog or cat, so what's any different about a hamster? I myself cry at the loss of any of my animals no matter how big or small they were. Congrats on your new little one! You should share some pictures if you get the chance

I'm so sorry for your loss.
If it is any comfort the bedding in the mouth is not uncommon for hamsters who are walking on the path to the bridge.
I think as their body systems close down they may experience some confusion and instinctively will pouch bedding. I like to think they are taking their sleeping bag with them on their journey.
Play well at the bridge little one x
