Default RIP Gingersnap

Last Tuesday I lost my little friend, Ginger.
He was a ginger and white Syrian who was always very active and happy. He lived for a year and 9 months which is pretty good for an adopted Hamster, just a shame he didn't ls until Christmas </3

Tuesday morning I woke up and went to go change his food and water. He was moving very slowly and barely had his eyes open. I wasn't sure wether to take im to the vet or not, and as I had school, my parents refused anyway. I spent as much time as I could with him that morning, preparing for the worst. I picked up the water bottle and kind of bottle fed him so he could get a drink without having to move very far, and put some food around him incase he got hungry. I gave him his favourite treat, some special hamster chocolate drops (made for hamsters - perfectly safe - would recommend) and left him for the day. When I got home, I checked on him and he was still breathing. I spent that evening with him, gently talking to him. I still couldn't take him to the vet as my parents weren't home from work and I don't drive. That evening, on the 6th December 2016, heaven gained another little angel. He passed away peacefully in his sleep. He wa smy first hamster and will always be special to me. Rest in peace Gingersnap <3 When my parents came home, I broke the news and they helped me bury him in the garden and clean out his cage.

I got a new Hamster, a little grey Syrian named Pepper, yesterday. Some people wait but for me to was too hard to look at the empty cage in my room and not hear the familiar shuffle of bedding when i'm falling asleep. Though I have moved on and gained another little friend, I will never forget you my little ginger ninga <3

So sorry for your loss.
First hamster are very special & it is always that bit harder losing a precious ham at this time of year, I hope Pepper is giving you some comfort now.

Run free & play well at the bridge Ginger.

Sad to hear about Gingersnap. I'm the same way with my hamsters, when one passes and I have an empty cage I must fill it. But I've been undergoing treatment so I'm loaded up with 7 hamsters because they at good distractions. I don't plan adopting again as they pass as clearly 7 hamsters is as bit much

So everybody is different and if it helps you to adopt another hamster than you are doing a good thing, just make sure it's not an impulse decision.
