Re: Rest well my loveliest
So sorry for your loss.
It looks like she had a wonderful life, and thanks to you, now she's relieved of her pain, so don't worry and blame yourself, you took the right decision.

Re: Rest well my loveliest
Thank you all
I have accepted that this is how things went and that I really made the best decision I could've. I still miss her so incredibly much though. She really was my little angel (:
Originally I got her because I didn't want to be completely alone when I moved out. And to be completely honest I was a little worried that I would get bored of her eventually. Should this happen, I decided that I was still ready to take on the responsibility to care for her until she would pass and give her a life worth living.
When I picked her up to bring her home I completely fell in love! And 17 months after bringing her home, I would still sprint to her cage whenever I heard she was awake. I still planned what to have for dinner so that she could have a bite as well and if sebas (my boyfriend) and I had a disagreement of any kind, it still would end with 'okay, you can be right this time, it's only fair, because Kiki loves me the most'
I am left with a ton of great memories, but also a hamster shaped hole that only she could fill

Re: Rest well my loveliest
You do have the most wonderful memories to cherish Penguin, she was such a special girl & in a way they never really leave us although there is always that hole left in our hearts & always some sadness that stays with us but I think we are blessed to have all those happy memories to keep with us forever.
No ham ever fills the hole left by another but with each ham I think our heart grows making more space for future friends to come.

Re: Rest well my loveliest
I'm so sorry. This time of year is a hard one as well after a long winter and it's still cold. She is still close to your heart so it's not surprising you still miss her. I think little comforts for yourself can help - cuddle someone or something xxxx I know it's not that simple though.
She is playing free now and I'm sure she's looking down on you. Do you have any other hamsters?

Re: Rest well my loveliest
It's not so long really Penguin & I don't think we ever stop missing them, it does get easier with time though, take comfort in little Eddie & try to remember the good times.
