Reminiscing over my four babies

Recently when going through the contents of my dads old camera, I found a video of me two years ago and my Robo hamster Sami who unfortunately passed away soon after the recording. Brought back a lot of memories!! Its lovely to be able to see him again, as calm and docile (and as lazy!) as ever. He used to love sitting in my fedora and climbing my gloves/sleeves, and would climb into my hand if I put it into his cage. He was never as active as my other Robo, Sandy, who would scale hanging treats like they were Mount Everest!!

But where Sami was always up for a good cuddle, Sandy was always up for a long play session, until she curles up in my hand ready to be lifted back into her cage. It's funny how my friends tell me that hamsters are all the same and are boring after the first one, yet all four of my angels had such different personalities.

I actually found a picture of Fred, my first hamster, with his fur all sticking up. How he could manage the effortless scruffy look and I still can't, I'll never know. He was still adventurous, but not to the extent of Sandy or Pearl.

Pearl was my little escape artist. She could unlock almost anything, given enough time. She scared me half to death several times!! She was fussy though, and was never afraid to nibble if she disliked a change in interior design! I ended up having to keep her favourite toys in the right place, otherwise she would wake the house up dragging it to the right spot. Such a fussy pot!

I still miss all of my hamsters, and it's been too long since I owned a hamsted, but I'm excited that I'll be getting a RD soonish!!

So lovely to read about you remembering your lost hammies and their characters, it sounds like you had 4 different hams which you loved unconditionally. It's great having memories of them to look back on.
I miss my hams also but, I look back and know I gave them a wonderful life and that they gave me so much joy.
Glad you're getting another ham soon.

I miss my hams that have gone to the bridge too, we always will but there's always room in our hearts for another little fur ball, I'm sure your new ham will be very happy with you.

It was lovely reading through this and all your memories of your past hamsters. It's sad when they eventually do go but I always love remembering the good times

Looking back makes you realise how much you've learned about your hammies individual personalities as well, and what a joy they can be. Exciting you are getting another one - I'm sure you'll be a great hamster Mum and be prepared for all eventualities
