Goodbye, my beautiful little Nellybob

I'm very sad to say that I had to say goodbye to my little girl on Friday night. Unfortunately the last few weeks she suddenly became a little old lady, even though she was not 2 years old yet. I think she had an underlying problem as she always drank and weed a lot, but unfortunately there isnt that much you can do with these little guys so as long as she was happy then I was happy. She still ate and drank and came out for a play, she was just an old lady version of herself so I thought she would just pass away in her sleep one night. She surprised me for about three whole weeks, with me being worried that every day was her last and constantly waiting to see if she would come out of her house once more, but she did!

On thursday I felt like she wasn't herself, her little sleepy ears didn't perk up when I got her out and she had lost her lovely little spark. I waited to see if Friday was a better day but when I saw her that evening I knew that she wasn't happy any more and I made the heartbreaking decision to help her over the bridge. .

I miss her so much. I miss her cheeky little face at the cage door, waiting to come out and cause havoc in my lounge. I miss hearing her toddle out in the day for a drink, with her sleepy expression. I miss her soft little fur and her tickly whiskers, and the way she smushed her face in when I kissed her because she didn't really like being kissed, but how can you resist such a cute little face? I miss the sound of her attacking my curtains, and her naughty look when I picked her up to tell her off for doing it. She truly was my little princess and she lived in the most lovely mansion a hamster could have, I'm so glad I found this site and learnt about all the cages and toys she could have and she was so spoilt for it! She was definitely my heart ham. I don't think I'll have another hamster for a while, it's too sad when you have to say goodbye, but in the future I will probably fall for another lovely little face that needs a home.

I'm so sorry to hear that she passed. She was such a pretty girl. I can tell how much you loved her and it sounds like you treated her like a little princess. She was lucky to have such a caring owner. It's very sweet that you have so many lovely memories of her and her antics! I know what you mean about the face they pull when they're told off! So sorry Peasypea, she was such a beautiful little girl, lived her life to the full & couldn't have wished for more love than you gave, you gave her the kindest gift at the end, it is a very hard thing to do but she is at peace now.

Such sad news about your little princess Nellybob. Making the decision of having her pts is heartbreaking but, you did the right thing and she's now at peace and pain free.
Take your time grieving and remember that she had a wonderful life with you. You've a lot of love to give to another hamster.
