Goodnight Gwynn
It is with a heavy heart today that I say goodnight to Gwynn. I came home from the library to Gwynn curled up in a ball in her igloo, *barely* breathing. I called Ryan who rushed home from work and we jumped in my sisters car and went to the vet. I lost her 7 times, she stopped breathing and was losing color. I had put her in a large washcloth, rubbing her gently to rouse her and breathed warmth onto her little body. I never thought I'd ever have to, but I brought her back to us using cpr, mouth to muzzle with chest compressions to start her breathing again. I brought her back only to lose her again and start over to bring her back, when I got to the vet, they took her from me into the back where I could not follow. We had seen her struggle to stay with us. I made the tough decision to have her euthanized, so she wouldn't have to struggle anymore. I'm bringing her home as I write, wrapped in a little pink cloth. They don't know what caused her to go downhill so quickly, she may have thrown a clot or something. She is gone now, to play at the rainbow bridge and play with Tiggs and her many friends. Good night Gwynn, play well at the rainbow bridge

Re: Goodnight Gwynn
Before we left home, clinging to stay with us.
She fought hard. And I was so proud of her.
I love you Gwynn

Sorry to hear this - poor little thing. Is it very hot in your part of the world at the moment? The heat can affect them at this time of year sometimes, but you'd probably know if it was that.

No, it's not that hot. My room stays pretty constant with central air and there's a gentle fan on at all times. It never gets stale, they always have fresh air.
Maybe I'm just not supposed to have Syrians?
I can't stop beating myself up about her. I brought her back to life 7 times, 7, she got 2 table spoons of food everyday, her bin was clean, was it because I shifted her see saw an inch to the left earlier, her water was clean she had access. Was it because I didn't get her that bigger wheel at the store? Did I stress her out? Was it her bedding?

Re: Goodnight Gwynn
Cujo I am very sorry you lost Gwynn in such a sudden manner. Know she is at peace now and in no more pain and discomfort because you were kind enough to help her on her bridge journey.
I really don't think you did anything wrong to cause her death. It was just her time to go. It wouldn't matter one bit if you had bought that bigger wheel, and it had not one thing to do with where you placed her see saw. Even if you bought her a mansion hamster cage, Place the see saw in the perfect location, and placed a huge wheel in it she still would have went on to the bridge all the same. Instead of beating your self up for what you didn't do, how about all the wonderful things you did do for her that wouldn't ever have happened for her had you not invited her into your life?
RIP beautiful Gwynn may you run on silent paws in perfect health at rainbow bridge.
Cujo may you find peace and comfort in days to come and realize you gave Gwynn the best life ever a hamster would want. May God bless you and comfort you in this time of Mourning.
