Goodbye little Tank

As some of you know Tank had been rapidly losing a lot of weight, he used to be a fat thing so at first his weight loss wasn't alarming. After two weeks he had lost so much he was very skinny, I took him in to the vet at the end of May. They didn't know what was wrong with him but told me to keep weighing him every few days, every few days I weighed him he had lost more weight.

I tried to give him fatty food to get him to put on weight, he only lost more instead. Today he wasn't even eating and had gotten diarrhea, I weighed him more weight lost. The vet is only open for an hour on Saturdays and its emergency only, I rang them up soon as they had opened to ask if I could bring him.

The entire trip he was doing his best to escape the carrier, by the time he was seen by the vet he had drooled profusely and was too weak to move. Vet said he was already dying and he was in a bad state, our only option was to have him put to sleep.

Little Tank was gone in a few seconds from the injection. They don't know what was wrong with him, it could have been the lump in his cheek it might have been cancerous. I did everything I could for Tank from the diet for his stomach problems to well today.

Goodbye Tank you were only a year old and have always been a strange little hamster, but I loved you all the same. Play well at the bridge.

I'm so very sorry, he was such a little trooper & you tried so hard to save him, you gave him the best of everything & although his life was far too short it was full of love & care.

I know how hard it is to lose them so young & how much he will be missed but he's at peace now, try to take some comfort in that, thinking of you.

Blue, so sad about Tank, he was a little sweetheart and always brought a Smile to my face.
I know how difficult it's been for you over the last few days and seeing him decline is heartbreaking.
He's at peace now and pain free.
Tank you're going to be forever missed RIP xxx

Thank you both of you. I think once he knew he was at the vet he just gave up pretending, and showed how bad he really was but he's in a better place now.

They fight so hard for such a tiny animal but I've seen that moment too when you just know they've had enough & given up, it's so very sad but a relief too in a way knowing they won't be struggling any more.

I just cried at the vet, I knew I wouldn't be bringing him home alive. He's buried now by our cherry tree. Thank you for the messages.
