Remembering lil Honey
Over a week ago, I went home for spring break to see my family and I left my roommate to take care of my hammy, Honey. This is my first year away at college, and I decided to get a hamster for company a little less than six months ago. I had no idea how much that decision would change my life. Honey was the best thing that happened to me this year. We were so in sync, and she always wanted to be held by me. Two days into my vacation, I was told that Honey had passed. My roommate said she choked, but I have never heard of that before. How often does this happen? I am so heartbroken, and I feel like I did not have enough time with her. My whole family thinks I'm crazy for being so distraught over it, but I can't help but feel completely lost now that I'm back at school without her. Honey was the best hammy and I will never be able to thank her enough for what she did for me. I feel terrible I wasn't there for her when she passed, but I think she knows that I loved her very much.

Re: Remembering lil Honey
I'm so sorry to hear about Honey. It's amazing how something so tiny makes such a big hole in our heart when they leave. I think a lot of non small pet owners don't really understand what an impact they make on our lives but read through any of the memorial threads on here and you will see you are not alone in how you feel. Don't feel bad that you weren't there when she passed but take comfort in knowing Honey had a good life with you because she was loved.
There is a lovely poem called The Rainbow Bridge that we often refer to when one of our pets has passed. I think you may find it comforting so I'll post a link to it.
The Rainbow Bridge
Play well at the bridge, little Honey x

Re: Remembering lil Honey
Sorry for the loss of your hamster, honey. She must have really loved you to let you handle her like in your photo. Cherish the good memories & it's unfortunate that she passed when you weren't there. Nothing can be done though, it was just her time.
