Sleep well precious Flynt.

My very precious Flynt has gone to the Rainbow Bridge.

I thought he was going yesterday when I heard him in his food bowl, went to see him & he ran straight to me but didn't want any of the food I offered just sat in my hand where he went to sleep.
I held him for a long time & told him how much I loved him, what a special friend he has been to me, how far we had come from the terrified little baby who would scream at the sound of my voice to the loving, affection & cuddly little old man he had become, I was honest enough to say that I really didn't want to be without him but if it was time to go to sleep he should do what was best for him.

Eventually I had to put him in his carrier for a few minutes & when I came back he had livened up again so I took him to the cage to see if he wanted to go back & he ran down to his one of his sand baths for a quick little pee & had a nibble on his beloved Christmas tree before running back to bed.
He did come out a couple of times in the evening but was acting a little strangely, just running out & back into his house, getting to him in his nest took quite a lot of effort & disruption so not wanting to disturb him if he was sleeping I left him in peace.

He didn't come out for breakfast this morning, I guess I knew he had gone, I thought I was prepared but you never can be really so I waited a while just in case before I looked for him & found him in his forever sleep.
I know it was just his time, a time that had to come but I'm so completely heartbroken thinking of life without my little man & friend.
We've had a long good bye, lots of tears, I really hope he knows how much I loved him, what a huge part of my life he has been for what seems a very long time now, he would have been two on Christmas day.
I think he had a good & happy life, I just wish I'd been there to hold him last night.

He was so full of life on Wednesday & now gone today, I'm just grateful that there can't have been any pain or prolonged suffering.

He's resting in his snoozecube now with his favourite biscuits & dandelion root & later to day he'll go to rest close to Zephyr with a few more of his favourite things.

He'll always be my little hobbit, lots of meals every day & a nice house to sleep in, I hope he finds those all waiting for him at the rainbow bridge where Zephyr & the other hams will be waiting to welcome him.

Oh no. Flynt too? So sorry Cypher. hugs to you. We will really miss Flynt. He was such a nice and energetic ham.
Your mum will miss you Flynt. We will miss you. RIP Flynt, play well at the rainbow bridge and say hi to Zephyr for your mum and me. Blow a kiss every now and then to ease your mom's pain. Flynt, play well at the bridge and may you find all your favorite play toys, and eat all your favorite treats and food. You have left a hammy sized hole in our hearts

So sorry for your lost. I know, we would all like to be with our little ones in their last moments before they go into their forever sleep, but sometimes that just can't happen. We will all miss him. He was such a fine boy.

I have seen that you have moved Flynt to "always loved, never forgotten".
That is right. Let him go to the rainbow bridge in real life.
I seen your thread about loosing Zephyr. It wasn't long ago and now you have lost Flynt. They were both such angels I really feel for you although I am lucky that I have not yet lost a ham. But I know how it feels because I have lost many other pets and I still miss them and dream about them. So sorry for your loss.

This has saddened me so much. You're right, even when it's their time to leave it doesn't mean we're ever ready to let them go. I'm sorry that you weren't with with Flynt in his final moments but I truly believe with hamsters as with people that while some need to have somebody close to them so they can pass feeling protected, others like your precious little boy Flynt can't bring themselves to leave you while you're around. He kept rallying when you checked on him and I think he was just holding out to play some more. So I think he needed to have seen you, had a final cuddle with you so he could quietly go to sleep and allow himself to go. I'm so so sorry you've lost your beautiful boy when you've already had sadness in your family. There's never a good time but this time of year makes it feel much worse. I'll be thinking of you today Cypher xx

Thank you all for the kind words & support, I really need it right now.

I've just buried my little boy, next to Zephyr, in his snoozecube with his Christmas tree & a little piece of cheese & a blueberry for the journey.
He barely ate yesterday & I was only able to tempt him with those two favourite things, nice to know his last meal was his favourite though.
I know he doesn't need them now but it made me feel a little better to give him one last gift.

Really, sad and bit tearful reading this cypher, Flynt was a special wee person and as has already been said, we are never prepared to lose them even if we know their time has come, it leaves a hole in the heart for a long time. Lots of love from myself and Chubs. Sleep soundly Flynt, we will all light a candle for you this Christmas. x

Aw Flynt I'm so sorry cypher, he was such a special little man. You gave him the best possible life and he was having a great time right up till the end, he knew he was so loved and we can't ask for more than a good life with great friends and a peaceful passing...
