I'm sorry Hamtaro :(
I know that you guys are all going to think I'm a turd after reading this, but I have to get it off my chest. When I was a lot younger, around 7, I had a golden banded Syrian girl named Hamtaro. She was the best hamster I ever had, and she was the greatest pet ever. I loved her. After I had her for a long time (probably a couple years) she got some kind of weird tumor thing on her neck all the sudden. It was really gross like it was rotting or something. My mom said we couldn't afford to take her to the vet and she said that the best thing would be to take her out in the woods so that she could have a fun last couple days. At the time, I thought she was right. It was the hardest thing I've ever done, leaving her there like that. Now that I'm older I know that it was the worst thing I could have possibly done. I left her out there by herself when I should have been taking care of her. It's probably the biggest regret of my whole life, and I just thought that I should do something to make it right, if only by telling other people what an awful thing I did.
So, I'm sorry Hamtaro. I was wrong and I hope that you're in a better place now. I love you little girl. If I can ever find any pictures of you, I will post them and make you a proper memorial.

Re: I'm sorry Hamtaro :(
(Big hugs) I know what that feels like. If I had it to do over again perhaps I could stand up to my mother now but when you're a child you look up to your parents and don't know that they could be wrong. You know better now and that's the important thing.

Re: I'm sorry Hamtaro :(
Awww thats so sad .
I'm sure Hamtaro understands. And at that age you didn't know any better!
Sparky my first syrian 20 yrs back now, i was 7/8 had an absolutely tiny cage and i do look back and feel guilty. But he was very much loved and had the free range of the living room every evening. He lived to the grand old age of 3 and a half. If i could do it again i would. Id buy him a palace. But we can't change the past.
Just be happy that she was very much loved

You were only 7. You just did what your mum said. And in fairness, your mum probably tried to romanticise the woods as a natural way for hammy to pass because it may have helped you to feel less upset about the whole thing. Don't beat yourself up about it. Xx

Re: I'm sorry Hamtaro :(
it isn't your fault..i have a lot of regrets with my first hammy, his cage wasn't small, but not nearly big enough, and his wheel was too small. of course I had no idea..
we all have our regrets but the important thing is that you gave her a good long life, and im sure she knows you would change what happened if you could

Re: I'm sorry Hamtaro :(
As others have said, as a 7 year old child this was absolutely not your fault. Hamtaro will have been long at the bridge now, happy and free from her tumors xx

Thanks everyone. I was a little ashamed to tell people about that but I actually feel a lot better now that it's out there.

Play well at the bridge Hamtaro. I'm sure she has watched over you and known that as a little child you did what you felt was right to make her happy during her final days. She probably was happy and at peace with herself when she flew free to the bridge x

That sounds sad. I think it was good to nature, though.
