Rest in peace Archie
A very sad day to see the 3rd of the Squisheroos litter to pass far too soon. Archie developed a very bad chest infection about a week ago, my cheerful and bubbly boy deteriorated so fast.
The vet gave me the option whether to treat or let him pass, my heart told me he needed a little more time and he was given antibiotics and brought home.
I spoilt him a lot and with a lot of support from brother Merry he started to feel a little better.
Unfortunately I found he'd passed this evening, the fight must have been too much.
Having played a part in bringing a life into the world you feel very repsponsible for their well-being. I wish I could have the power to fix the genetics in my baby squisheroos, but I can't. Those who consider breeding must understand the heartbreak that comes with the joy before going ahead. They really helped me through a very difficult time, but have provided me with many more difficult times ahead.
He was a real attention seeker, I never intended to keep 3 but I couldn't bear to let him go! Merry and Archies relationship has always been wonderfully sweet (the last picture attached shows Merry letting him use him as one big pillow the other day). I'm sure Merry will miss him just as much as me, but Archie will watch him from above and protect him.
Sleep tight my baby boy, you've earned your peace xxx

Re: Rest in peace Archie
oh hunny, I am so sorry.
I completely and wholeheartedly know that feeling, when you bring them into the world, and they pass before they should. This is why we always advise not to breed unless you know this can happen, and i am so so sorry it has hun.
I dont know his genetic problem, but he has had a brilliant mum, do not worry about that, the things hidden in their blood we cant see, but it dosnt change how we love them. he knew he was loved, I know you may never want to breed again, but I know theres a special attachment to the ones you have raised yourself.
he was beautiful, handsome, and a true character, run free little man x

Re: Rest in peace Archie
Thankyou for your kind words We unfortunately had to have Lewis the gerbil pts a few weeks back too. The rest of my troop will soldier on, unfortunately we are reaching that time where many of them are getting older (Button, Bacardi, squishy and squirt all over 2 and Roobear soon to follow). I love them all dearly, as tempting as it is to get a new baby I have a commitment to them, even if they are a bunch of old fogies!
