My Baby Alfred...
Hey everyone <3
You may have seen my post a couple of days ago about Alfred being bloated and lethargic. He seemed to show some improvement but this morning I noticed one side of his hip was very hard and was a large lump.
I took him to the vets within the hour and she felt him over. He was struggling to walk and he kept losing his balance...
She eventually told me that there was nothing she could really do, it was assumed it's a tumour. I already knew we were going to have to send him off but I think I had been trying to convince myself otherwise. When she said it I broke down :c
Here's a picture of my beautiful little boy not too long ago.
He never, ever bit, not even when I was first taming him. He is the first hamster I have owned where I have been old enough to know about the proper care and training, and he made it so much easier for me - he must have known I was a newbie!
I will miss you little sweetie. I remember picking you because you were kicking sawdust onto your other little furry friends at the pet store. You were the only one wide awake and hopping about while they all slept.
xxxxx

Re: My Baby Alfred...
Thankyou <3 I held him while he went, I couldn't put him down at all.
I had convinced myself he'd be okay to the point where this morning I bought him a new massive bin for an upgrade... D:
I suppose I will have to save it for more hammies in the future when I feel I'm ready. xxx

Re: My Baby Alfred...
Very sorry for your loss... She set him free from further pain and distress... You showed him love... That's courageous of you... Soon, you will be able to make room in your heart for another needing hammy but, for now, give yourself some time... It will get better...
Sleep well, cutie...

Bless you, I'm sure the bin will go to good use in the future. I'm very sorry for your loss.
Play well at the bridge little Alfred.
There will be lots of places to dig and lots of mealy worms to find x

Re: My Baby Alfred...
Thank you everyone <3 I thought it would take me a while to think about getting more hamsters but the more hours pass the more lonely I feel! I definitely I think I'm going to need another soon.
For the time being I'm going to jazz up this new bin cage and buy some new toys for a potential new baby. I think once you've had the company of such a lovely hamster you can't live without one. Even when I came home from college every day and he was still in bed I didn't feel lonely because I just knew he was there having a nice peaceful sleep..
I am thinking two dwarf hammies. And out of tribute to Mr Alfred Pennyworth, I will call them Batman and Robin. xxx

Re: My Baby Alfred...
I am really sorry, it is especially hard when they leave so young. You were brave to think of his comfort first.
