Oh nooo, you've set me off
. I thought I would be ok reading Marmalade's memorial, but no
Marmalade was born into the second Pompom litter, as Lougarry says, daughter of Tammy's Bianca, and my boy The Cloud. She was Dasher and Whizzbit's younger sister, making her Billy and Lola and Rolo's auntie, and the newest little poms great auntie.
I named her Marmalade as a nod to her uncle Jam my little robo who had just passed to the bridge when she came along. She was born one of a litter or four, two little husky girls, two white boys.
This is Marmalade peeping over the sandpit
and snoozing with siblings and mum
Marmalade and sister Peaches stayed with me much longer than any babies would normally, so I became very attached to them, at four months old they finally went to their new home. As has been said, unfortunately things didn't work out for them there, and I took them back to live with me for a while. I was going to keep them here as they'd not had the best time already, but Lougarry was interested in giving them a loving forever home.
With no promises at all from me that they would settle again from their previous experience, or that I would agree to let them go, Lougarry consistently inquired after the health of the girls both physically and mentally, remaining patient at all times both with the girls needing more time, and with me not making any promises. I like my babies to go to homes where I genuinely believe they will be cared for the way I care for them here, and Lougarry's continued interest in their well being convinced me she would be a fantastic carer for them.
The girls stayed with me for four months, and settled well getting big and healthy again. The pic of them on their first birthday is one of my favorites, but I also particularly liked when Marmalade dabbled with being a Russian hamster
It was hard to let my little ladies go agin, but I knew they would be well cared for, and given the life I wanted them to have. So one day in May Lougarry arrived, met both my entire family, and my entire hamily, and the girls began their new lives as Essex pompoms.
Thank you for looking after little Marmalade so well Lougarry, she lives on especially in Lola who is so like her in looks and temperament, and also in the new little girls one of whom has the little Marmalade coloured patch on the top of her head like her great auntie. Give Peaches cuddles and treats from me and her hamily, I hope she is still doing ok.
Marmalade, I am so proud of how beautiful you grew up to be little fluff. Go find your big brothers at the bridge, they'll look after you now. Your dad is there too so you know there'll be no trouble
. Give JamJam and George cuddles, and look after the babies that passed too soon. Play well sweetie xxxxxxxxx
