Bye bye Rusty

After a year and 5 months with me, Rusty has departed. Sadly the chest infection he had didn't respond to either antibiotics the vet gave him and he was in such a poor state, and distressed, that it didn't feel fair to keep him suffering. I'll miss reaching into his cage in the evening when he was up and about and feeling him nip at my fingers, something he never shook (but he never drew blood, and in a way it kind of felt like a little 'hello'), and his inquisitive nature. And I'll just miss knowing that, at the end of the day, he won't be there waiting.
