Default Rest well, Chip.

I miss this forum so much but I've been busy and is currently having my mid term tests. Never thought I'd come back here with such sad news

My little Chip has passed away He died last Monday. I can't really talk about it, I'm a really bad hamster mom to not taking him to a vet asap. He had been so skinny but he seemed so fine and active, eating and drinking fine. On the day he died, it turned out he had overgrown teeth. I felt really bad about it, I saw him still eating just fine so I thought he was just losing a bit of his appetite. But the worst already happened, I could only hope Chip could forgive me for this

I love you, Chip <3

I'm so glad I woke early that day as I could hold you in my hands for the last time. I found you looking so weak and still breathing, but your body was so cold, I put you in my hands hoping you'd feel warmer, but then you had your last breath. I'm sorry I didn't give you the best, but I loved you so much. The night before the day you died, I opened your cage and then you hopped into my hands, if only I knew you were suffering such pain with the overgrown teeth........ I'm really really sorry Chip , I love you. Play well there <3

Very sorry for your loss... I'm sure IF you would have known better, you would have taken action... BUT YOU DIDN'T KNOW ! That's what it comes down to... You didn't... And surely you didn't want him to suffer, so nothing was done on purpose... Don't feel guilty... Hoping brighter days are close for you...

Rest well, little one... Enjoy the Bridge, free of pain and feeling free...

Annie xx

I know you always do the best for your hamsters and sadly the vets couldn't have done anything about the lose of weigh if it was just that. Sometimes you hold onto hope they will get better and don't need the vets, it's not your fault

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.
If he was still eating fine I am certain that the root cause of his passing was not his teeth so try and accept that sometimes we do blame ourselves and dwell on 'what ifs' when we really have no reason to.
He knew he was loved. It was just his time x
Play well at the bridge Chip x

Thanks so much RachK & souffle.

It just feels bad to think of all the what ifs. Whatever it is that caused his death, I'm just glad that he wouldnt feel any more pain now. He'll always be missed! xx
