Today we said a sad goodbye to our darling little Wonton. He had been looking older and losing weight for some time, but this past few days I discovered a lump in his side and he wasn't eating - he was due to see the vet on Tues. I am glad he didn't have to make a stressful trip to the vet, he passed away, sleeping on his wheel instead. My partner had been away and was back for the night, we gave him a cuddle last night and when we woke up, he was gone. He didn't go without seeing my partner, he didn't go until I had my guy back either. Thank you for that my darling and sleep tight my eccentric little man - you chose a beautiful crisp and sunny day to go. We will never forget you. 12/08/11 - 18/11/12.
Wonton was the first pet my partner and I owned as a couple. I rescued him from gumtree, he was a 6 month old unwanted baby of petshop hybrids at the time he came to me, with a pretty bad diet and cage to match. He was a crazy and endearing little guy from day one
lazy yet going from 0-60 whenever the mood took him! He LOVED his food and was quite podgy for a while
after a few months, he seemed to hit his peak, he was happy, healthy, burrowing (he really was an advocate for deep substrate, he lived in an undercover world
), chewing, running (only when he thought we weren't looking!) and he became at ease with my presence, often asking to come out for a run. He was a character though, nipping at times, running off the edge of my bed, shredding tubes and eating as many nuts and seeds as he could! He is somewhat of a legend with our friends - loved by all! He inspired me to rescue Kiwi and Emi and he has been a real little friend to me during some tough, tough times. I can't thank him enough for all of the smiles he has given me. I'll finish this memorial with some photos:
Here he is, shortly after we got him in his original cage, about 7 months old
Handsome
Forever hungry! Even when he didn't feel well this past few days, he still nibbled on millet and dandelion
One of my faves
Pictures of his last few days
And his resting place, what a beautiful day to say goodbye to an old friend :') I love you, Wonton, sleep tight.
