Default Hammis Died Today :(

Hi, I know I havent been on here much lately as I have been busy with school work etc but I thought I'll just inform you that Hammis Died Today.(Wed)

About 4pm today hammis came out of her nest and she looked troubled, and then she had somekind of fit and she was breathing out of her mouth rapidly. I shouted to my parents who were upstairs to call the vets. My mum called the vets and they said to bring hammis in straight away.

I got to the vets and went straight through and the vet said she was in a bad way The vet injected her with water to help because all that breathing out of her mouth was making her lose moisture. Then the vet injected her with some kind of antibiotic.

I took her out and got into the car and she turned for the worse again She passed away at around 4.30pm

She was around 18 months old .

Im really depressed now as you know hammis was my only pet and I loved her so

Rest In Peace Hammis. I love you so much.

Oh minicooper *huggles* I'm so sorry to hear about hammis, she was an adorable hamster and very much loved in this community. At least you did what you could to help her and gave her a wonderful life. Would you like it if I used one of these pictures and featured Hammis in next months Hamster Central calender in Hammis memory?

So sorry about your little Hammis! It sounds like she had a "stroke". I have lost many hamsters that way. Did she fall onto her left side after her "fit"? Syrian hamsters often have strokes that affect the left side. If that is the case, there wasn't anything you could do to save her.

I hope you find comfort in the fact she went quickly and didn't suffer for very long. I hope you find another lucky hamster to love some day. When you feel ready.

Minicooper, I am so deeply sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved Hammis. In the hamster world she was a treasure. Not only beautiful but full of character. Your love and commitment to her shone through and she knew how much she was loved. Her passing was peacful for she would not have felt any pain and you made it easy for her to go gently to the bridge where she will find many hamster friends waiting for her to play with and one day, a long time in the future she will be waiting for you. Till then treasure her memories in your heart where a little of her will live forever.
Rest in peace Hammis. One in a million.

And Minicooper...all the very best for your exams... give it your everything for the key to your future lies there and I am sure it will be a bright one.

Yes She Did. When I took her to the vets, he said it was a less than 50/50 chance. He thought it might of been some kind of tumour on her lung or something in her blood.

Thank You Everybody who posted such lovely replies. I still cant believe she has gone. My dad is going to bury her tonight in our garden, I am going to find a little box to put her in

Its weird because I can remember her on Tuesday evening and she was her usual self. Its so quiet now I keep looking down at her cage and I think she will pop up and come out to greet me.

Oh so sad :-(
Take comfort though that you both had such a great time together and that you found each other to love. Such a wonderful hamster with beautiful colouring and great personality. Have a great time at the bridge little one!

Oh no not Hammis! She was a wonderful hamster and knew how much you loved her. She passed peacefully and I don't think she would have suffered. R.I.P Hammis, you will always be loved.
