Default Pets at home adoption?

I have a simple, short and sweet question to ask if anyone would be kind to answer me; is hamster adoption at Pets at Home (UK) free?

I ask because I was in store the other day picking up hamster food for my Syrian Raphael, and saw two Robos up for adoption and I currently have two empty cages spare and would like to give at least one of the a new home.

I adopted my Pumpkin form Pets at Home - it not exactly free however you make a donation to the “support adoption for pet” charity (normally they suggest a minimum of retail price of the hamster if it was for sale). The money doesn’t go to p@h so won’t support pet mills.

I paid a donation of £8 when adopting my Robo from Support Adoption for Pets at Pets at Home if that helps

My two adoptions were half the price of the hamsters for sale.

When I adopted Garfunkel (Dom Spot Chinese Hamster) in 2015, the minimum donation was £5. They couldn't tell me all that much about him other than he'd originally been bought for some kids who had lost interest him and he had been in a fight at some point.

The money goes to the 'Support Adoption for Pets' charity and they work to support pets in rescue organisations.

I adopted a Robo and it was a minimum donation of £8. They couldn't give me any information about him. Just make sure they have properly given them a health check as my Robo seemed to be limping when he was in the store but they said that he was fine. When I got him home though I noticed his foot was really red and a bit swollen. It has only got worse from there and when I called to speak to them about it they wouldn't help even though it says on the adoption email that they will allow you to see one of their vets.

I've had 3 P@H adoptions in the past: 1 Syrian (in 2012) and 2 Robo's (2013 and 2015) and the minimum donation for each was £5. I think it depends on the store and how long they've been in the adoption centre for although I may be wrong.

I adopted my last Russian dwarf from PAH for a £5 donation. He was returned to the store by the person who bought two together and he was the bully apparently! That`s him in my avatar image (RIP) wee man. He was a cheeky wee soul who wasn`t really into handling, but as he grew older, he was much more settled. Rescue/rehomed hamsters in my opinion are the way to go.
