Hello everyone!

This is my very first post on this forum!

My name is Caitríona, I live in the Netherlands with my fiancé and our little Russian Dwarf hamster, Aragorn. I speak French, English, and Dutch. I owned a few hamsters as a child, but looking back, they were really neglected, and I didn't do anything right, which I'm afraid of repeating.

We welcomed Aragorn in our home almost a year ago, and it was love at first sight. He's a little ball of joy, although a bit introverted, but he adapts to everyone who meets him, and never bit anyone else but me (usually not on purpose, sometimes during playing, once at the vet, and maybe twice because I startled him).

Ever since he entered our lives, I'm constantly looking to improve his life and provide him with everything he needs. We recently built a Detolf cage for him, and he is like a new hammie!

Besides caring for Aragorn, I love reading, history, and collecting antique/vintage things as well as postcards! I'm also a crazy cactus lady

I'm looking forward to participating in this forum, see your little companions, and learn more about hamsters!

It's really hard to take a clear picture of him, he's so fidgety, I'm glad I've managed this time

He went simply for a routine nail clipping! Although we try to make sure that he has ways to 'file' his nails in the cage, he avoids them, so we take him to the vet to have them clipped. Now that he is in his new Detolf cage with a more natural setting, his nails are growing slower, which is good.

Yeah, when I look back I feel so guilty for the way I treated the hamsters and how I thought I was rocking it. But I guess that trying to not repeating those mistakes now is better than nothing, right?
