Smile Hiya, I'm new!

I'm the proud mum of Georgie, a female syrian. I recently upgraded her cage to the living world eco medium habitat after learning more about needs of hamsters. I owned a syrian when I was around 8 and followed the care that the pet store suggested and thought I'd do the same with Georgie. But she was showing a lot of signs of boredom. Once I researched the needs of syrians more I realised her cage wasn't big or deep enough.
Georgie's been settling into her new cage and I was able to take out her old, smaller cage today as she was nicely settled in which allowed me room to put in her new hideout which I love!
I just wanted to thank everyone on this forum, reading all your comments was so helpful in making choices for her. It's honestly so lovely seeing how much calmer Georgie is now she's in a bigger cage where she has enough room to burrow a lot more than she could in her old wire cage. Once I figure out how to upload images, I will

Hi & welcome to HC
Great to hear how well Georgie is doing in her new cage.
There’s a thread here that shows how to upload photos (although I think you have to have made a few posts before you can add them.)

This is Georgie enjoying some millet and her cage, I'll be adding some hanging toys once my sisal string arrives!20201230_135751.jpg

She looks lovely I would think about more floor toys, tubes, tunnels,dy bridges in the open space, hanging toys are ok if they don't have any chains or anything that might trap paws.

Thank you She has some tunnels hidden in her bedding and will be adding more toys and hideouts when they arrive tomorrow. I will be making the hanging toys using sisal string. I've also bought a few premade hanging toys that are made of hamster safe string from a pet shop near me and will be hiding some sunflower/pumpkin seeds in them and then hanging them up. If you've got any ideas of treats I can hide in her toys and tunnels to keep her diet varied and tasty, that would be amazing!

Georgie is beautiful! I love her colouring.
Looking forward to see more of her.

I also make hanging toys from cardboard and hide or string up treats like a monkey nut in the shell, a walnut half, a hidden raisin as a rare treat or a parsley ring treat etc.

You can also brush a mixture of flour and water onto cardboard tubes and then roll it in small seeds like linseeds or sesame seeds.

Thank you, I love her white paws and golden rings round her eyes!
Those treats sound amazing, thank you for the suggestions! She loved when I got her birch slices with parsley on them so I'll definitely give that one a try.
