Hi & welcome to the forum
There are lots of things to know really, I would suggest having a browse round each section of the forum like behaviour, housing, nutrition etc & you’ll find lots of info, if you have any specific questions just ask & someone will always try to help.

syrians in particular require lots of space, females tend to need much more than males. some german hamster forums recommend a minimum of 1,500 square inches for syrians and while this isn’t always achieved or necessary, it’s definitely something to consider if your hamster is not happy in something smaller syrians in general are of course bigger so they need bigger toys, a 12 inch wheel, and of course since their teeth are bigger than dwarfs, their bites are worse so that’s also something to consider. i generally don’t recommend syrians for first time owners but that doesn’t mean i discourage it if you’re willing to be accommodating to their needs!
