Default New Robo, already have a WW and Campbells!

Hey guys, newbie here! hope you're all well! I have a winter white named Dora, a Campbell's called Bella, and we got a wee baby Roborovski two weeks ago, and we named him Timothy. The girls have their own Vivariums and Timothy is currently in a bin cage until his Detolf arrives! I'm hoping to wet a wee bit of guidance as to where Timothy should go... Both of our Vivariums are in our living room. and we thought we could just sit Timothy's Detolf on top of one of them, but the more I think about it, would this stress any of them out? Dora and Bella came to us together, apparently sisters but they look nothing alike and we worked out for ourselves that Bella aint no winter white! (nice one, pets at home!) They dont seem to mind each others presence in the same room, and they dont mind the smell on our hands if we play with one after the other, but I fear it may be different for Timothy. He is either an extra tiny Robo baby, or is around 6/7 weeks old. We got him from Pets at Home the very morning he arrived in store, and he literally leapt from a box when I tried my first taming session... so he's had a rough start, though I've given him eeeeverything he could possibly want. My question is, should we keep Timmy in a separate room from the girls? I know there is no chance of breeding or whatever, I just dont want my boy being terrified, or my girls getting all teritorial! hope someone can help <3 thank you!

Hi and welcome to HC!

I don't think that hamsters stress each other out by living in the same room as long as they have their own cages.

I have five hamsters living in two rooms, a Syrian and a Robo in the lounge and two dwarfs and a Syrian in another room.

Three of my hamsters free roam (at different times of course) in this room and share tunnels, wheels and toys on the floor but i've never noticed any signs of stress only a lot of sniffing. They all seem to be very relaxed in their habitats.

A detolf with lots of substrate, furnishings and a meshed lid is far too heavy to lift on top of another cage though.

Robos are very shy little hamsters by nature and they are very fast and can jump surprisingly high. Robos have a reckless streak and will jump without considering the consequences of a belly flop landing from a great height. I know because i have a Robo and was taken by surprise the first time i saw him jump.
Best keep this in mind when attempting to tame a Robo and go at his pace. They are easily frightened so bath tub taming isn't suitable but a secure playpen could be an option.
Many are hamsters to watch rather than handle and mine is one of those which is fine by me.

Dwarfs from pets at home are Russian dwarf hybrid hamsters and not pure bred Winterwhites or Campbells. I also have two hybrid dwarfs from pets at home, one is a recluse who lives underground and the other is a very sociable daytime hamster.

I believe that baby hamsters are around 8 weeks old when they arrive at a petshop and Robo babies are so small... not that they grow much.

I wouldn’t worry about them being in the same room, I have four cages in my (not very big) living room, as long as there’s a bit of space between them they soon adjust to it & mostly don’t seem to notice each other even.
