Hi, My daughter's have 5 hamsters: 2 Syrian fluffballs and 3 dwarf cuties. We live in NY. I found Hamster Central through a google search. There was a 6th, which is why I joined. Sadly, he answered my question before I could ask. He passed away in his sleep.

My girls love their little boys and treat them like kings. I am hoping in time, we will replace the one we just lost.

Hi Jaiviol and welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear of your recent loss.

In my experience hamsters are a great pets to have with children as you seem to be finding out with your daughters. Has your daughters giving your hamsters cool names?

Hello and welcome . So sorry to hear of your loss. Was the hamster young or old? It might be an idea to hand wash between hamsters/opening cages for now - just in case it was something infectious. And not to re-use the items from that hamster’s cage. They can be disinfected but still best to wait a good period of time before reusing them.

Hi. Thank you. It was a tough loss for my younger daughter, but she bounced back fast. She wanted a new friend the next day because she liked listening to him run on the wheel.

We have Snowball, albino syrian, with beautiful flowing white hair; Vanilla, also a fluffy Syrian who is always smiley; Chubby and Chippy who are dwarfs and brothers, Dumpling, also a dwarg, and introducing our newest little love, Teddy, a dwarf that looks like a teddy bear.
