Hello
Hello, I am new to the forum. I have owned hamsters for ten years now, and have currently got one little boy hybrid, named Flump. He’s really fluffy like a marshmallow we rescued him off of fb, he was in a tiny ferplast cage but he is now in a much roomier fun area Leon. It’s not an ideal cage and we are going to build a Ikea linmon cage for him soon.
Hope everyone is well

Re: Hello
Thank you! He is really so sweet. He was part of a pair of hams that lived together in a small cage, however unfortunately the other little one passed away. I don’t know if that was illness related or if they fought.
I have no idea how old he is, being a dwarf he is tiny compared to the chunky Syrians I have owned in the past. However long he has left I am determined to make him happy

Re: Hello
The dwarf I have now is my first and I was really surprised at how small they are compared to Syrians too haha. I used to think my Syrian was so small and now I’m like she’s huge compared to my dwarf lol

Re: Hello
Thanks for the replies everyone. Here is a picture of our little guy. He doesn’t seem to like making a nest and sleeps in random open places in his cage, like in his tunnels or on top of some bedding but he never seems to nest!

Re: Hello
Aww! He looks adorable
What kind of house does he have to nest in? Some do sleep in the open sometines but if the house is too small or has a base so they can't dig under it they may not use it.

Re: Hello
He has loads of different areas in his cage to nest. He has a Sputnik, a cardboard box, with the bottom cut out, he has a plastic house, he has a bendy sticks house... lots of areas to nest in but he always goes back to his tunnels. His tunnels came with him in the cage he was in when I rescued him. He slept in them all the time in his old cage and I know he loves them so I’ve put them inside of his new cage so he feels safe. He’s a funny ham.

Re: Hello
That’s totally understandable then, if his tunnels have always been his safe place he must be quite attached to them bless him.
